Opashred started the way most good things in mountain biking do: a passionate rider, some spare bikes, and a simple idea. Right now, the Lend a Bike scheme is run by a small group of people who are doing exactly what the name suggests — lending their own spare bikes to get more people out on the trails.
It is grassroots. It is real. And it is growing.
You do not need to be a big brand or a bike shop to make a difference. The Opashred Lend a Bike scheme is built on the idea that the MTB community looks after each other.
Lend a bike. Got a spare bike sitting in your garage? It could be getting someone out on the trails instead of collecting dust. Lending your bike through Opashred means it goes to a rider who needs it, builds goodwill in the community, and comes back to you in one piece.
Donate parts, frames or full bikes. Upgrading your build? Do not let your old parts go to waste. We accept donations of frames, components, wheels, and complete bikes. Our team builds them up into rideable machines that go straight into the hands of people who need them.
Help us build bikes. If you have mechanical skills and want to give back to the community, we would love your help turning donated parts into complete bikes.
If you are a business in the cycling or outdoor space, the Lend a Bike scheme offers something genuinely valuable in return for your support. Your brand gets featured prominently on the Opashred website and across our social media channels. Riders get to test your bikes in real trail conditions — the most authentic form of product promotion that exists.
Riders remember the brands that helped them get into the sport. That loyalty lasts years.
